Retail Investor Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs)

A Retail Investor Alternative Investment Fund (RIAIF) is a regulated investment fund primarily geared towards retail investors. It offers the flexibility of an AIF while being subject to a regulatory framework designed to accommodate retail investors. It can invest in a wider range of asset classes than a UCITS and does not impose a minimum investment requirement. Irish RIAIFs may provide an EU-regulated investment fund structure for US investors, subject to applicable US securities, investment-company, tax and reporting requirements, including the PFIC rules and Form 8621.
